　　Nowadays, the problem of aging population is becoming much more serious in China. In addition, the amount of empty nesters is increasing rapidly. There are several reasons that caused the phenomenon of empty nesters. First of all, there are more opportunities in the urban areas, young people from the rural areas tend to leave their hometown and settle in the cities. As a result, their aging parents have to live alone. Secondly, facing too much pressure from work and life, young people actually have little time to look after their parents. They have to work day and night before getting paid, and the amount of holiday to rest is quite limited. Thus, the elders become empty-nested. To solve this social problem effectively, both the governments and the whole society should take measures. For the governments, they should emphasize the importance of caring parents by utilizing the popular social media such as WeChat and Weibo, thereby improving our awareness.
