常在网上看到争论英语学习的帖子，其意见大致有两种：
一、全球化趋势明显，英语已成为一项重要的技能，为与老外交流，必学；
二、英语是可以学，但不能提升到高于中文的高度，不能本末倒置。
我觉得两种意见有有理，因为持意见人学英语的目的不同，所以难免各有所见。但我更偏向于第一种。就我个人来说，理由有三。
首先我喜欢美景，尤其是那地中海柔软的沙滩、明媚的阳光，和爱琴海湛蓝的海水以及那扑面而来的浪漫气息，多么令人陶醉。所以为了能顺利地在国外溜达，学好英语是十分必要的。要是能结交个黄发碧眼的俊男美女，那岂不是更过瘾？！
我想我现在学英语是比较吃力的，因为我已经过了学习语言的最好年龄了。究其原因，因为我的父母不精通英语。所以啊，为了将来我的下一代，我必须得好好努力，学好英语，从小对他（她）进行双语教学。然后我就培养出一个大人才，哈哈……打住，又做白日梦了。以上是我学英语的目的之二。
这第三点，其实是最重要的.一点——上大学。现在英语也是中、高考中的一个“重地”了。众所周知，在战争中取得重地便能有效制敌，取得先机。在考场上也是如此，英语可有150分啊，我怎么能让这1/5的分值从我指中溜走呢？我“寒窗苦读”了十多年，不就是想考个好高中、好大学吗？为了不被挤下“独木桥”，我必须学好英语。
在这么多“功利性”目的的驱使下，我努力学习着英语。但是我相信，终有一天，我会真正喜欢上英语本身。我也相信，有一天，我能像使用汉语一样地使用英语。

Something must be done to stop the pollution. And I think it’s a great shame to waste while millions are in great need of water.
I think what we can do is that we have to save every drop of water as possible as we can. For example, we must turn off the tap immediately after we use it. We can use a basin to wash our hands and faces. It’s also a good idea to encourage my friends and family members to join me!
