　　Last night, I read the news about a professor who wrote the paper 20 years ago. He did some research about asking people whether they were happy and he came up with the conclusion that happiness belonged to two kinds of people, they are the one who lived in peace and the other was who lived with great achievement. But 20 years later, he decided to revisit these people and he found that the conclusion about happiness he made before was wrong. Most people with great achievement felt not happy because they met setbacks. The professor came up with the new conclusion that the real happiness lies in the peaceful soul. This is the code of happiness.

　　妈妈是个文盲，认识的字不多，她只读到小学三年级，但她好学。即使读得书不多，也还是可以讲普通话，她也很喜欢看书，不懂的字不是去问我，就是去问字典。

　　就在这几天，为了给上初中打基础，我在背26个字母。妈妈看着26个字母，也轻轻地读起来。我就问道：“妈，你也会读呀？”妈妈看着字母说：“我不会，你可以教我呀！”妈妈的`话把我震住了。“妈妈，你学这干嘛？”妈妈很洋气地说：“我不想被社会淘汰，我要开始学英语！”妈妈好像是抱着决心的。她朝表哥说：“阿宪，从今天起，你来教我英语，如果你肯教我，我今天就煮好东西慰劳你。”

　　那26个字母像一座沉重的大山压在妈妈那儿。要知道，她对此真是一窍不通。不是“V”和“U”搞错，就是把“I”和“L”混淆，妈妈被这些字母搞得头晕眼花。如果妈妈不是用好东西诱惑表哥，我想表哥早就不想教她了。妈妈有时还会向我求教。我让她读给我听，她读道：“啊（A）笔（B）死（C）地（D）……”我一个一个地耐心纠正，妈妈一个一个耐心地学。

　　功夫不负有心人，妈妈终于把那些字母全部认识了，虽然还是发音不准，但已经很不错啦。再过几天妈妈就要叫表哥正式教英语单词和日常会话了。

　　Today, a growing number of children in China are staying at home, not because they are giving up education but because their parents think they will actually receive a better education at home. They are being homeschooled at every level — kindergarten, primary, junior middle and even senior middle school.

　　People’s opinions vary on homeschooling. Some people support it, saying China’s current education mode puts heavy study pressure on students and many of them suffer from depression and even commit suicide. Some oppose it, maintaining that students need interaction with classmates, so that they can fit into society. Still, there are people who insist that homeschooling is a game for rich people only, which cannot be expanded to the whole of society.

　　Personally, I think homeschooling is advisable as long as the family can afford it. As people’s personalities differ, so education should be diversified. What’s more, we do have successful examples of homeschooling. For example, Zheng Yuanjie, a famous Chinese writer of children’s stories had his son study at home after his son finished primary school study.
